FUTURE
-
this will be based on the findings from the Residents' Survey and the Business Survey
PROBLEMS
Here is a summary of what this theme is aiming to address:

-
The climate is changing causing more extreme weather - hotter periods, stronger winds, as well as periods of flooding
-
This is caused by increasing greenhouse gases (such as carbon dioxide and methane) being pumped into the atmosphere. How can we reduce the levels?
-
We are already seeing the affects here in Moreton-in-Marsh, but our town is growing in size and population and so potentially adding to the problem. Particular local concerns include:
-
Flooding in parts of the town
-
Keeping homes at a level temperature (not too hot, not too cold) without major running costs
-
Noise and air pollution from traffic coming through the town
-
IDEAS
Here are the main ideas that have been suggested at the consultation events:

-
Developers should build houses which:
-
have solar panels and are better insulated
-
have charging points for cars
-
are more resilient to extreme weather
-
-
Developments should:
-
deliver a net gain in biodiversity
-
reduce flooding potential
-
-
Businesses should:
-
stop using non-recyclable plastic
-
have more local suppliers
-
-
We should:
-
grow more of our own food
-
switch off appliances, heating and lighting when not needed
-
create a community owned renewable energy scheme
-
-
Our local council should:
-
protect important green spaces
-
-
Schools should:
-
include climate change and what we can do about it in the National Curriculum
-
